Homage2Fromage 8 - Italian Cheeses with Super Mario

Having missed the last Homage2Fromage event I was really looking forward to the latest event for the increasingly popular Leeds cheese club.  It was also the first time I'd taken Jane along, and I was a little nervous that she might find things a bit too cheesy. The theme this month was Italian cheeses, and as we climbed the stairs at The Adelphi we could smell wonderful wafts of cheese drifting down to greet us. There were 7 cheeses to sample ... Provolone - this had a firm texture, with a chewy rind which added to the flavour Fontina - this was one of my favourites of the evening, a wonderful taste and texture Smoked Mozzarella - this one divided...

My evening trying out some non-Yorkshire cheese, with some very Yorkshire chutneys

So - my dilemma - give cheese club a miss, or go along and not eat anything, or admit that my name is Stephen and I am a cheeseaholic (or caseophile/turophile if you want to get clever about it).   The theme this month was Yorkshire cheese - which was too much of a draw for me to resist.  I decided to go along and see how things went.  Unsurprisingly...

Homage2Fromage IV - do you fondue?

January is always a bit of a gloomy month, what with the weather being cold and dark, combined with my annual resolution to shed the weight I put on over Christmas and to get fitter.  A welcome mid-month treat was the fourth Homage2Fromage event.  Since starting last year with just 20 attendees, these monthly cheese events have gone from strength to strength, and last night was no exception.  Around 60 cheese lovers descended on Primo's Gourmet Hotdogs in the Corn Exchange in Leeds city centre for an Alpine-and-Lancastrian themed cheese evening. I had been wondering how a fondue for so many people was going to work.  On arriving I was presented with my owm pair of colour-coded skewers (red for members,...
