The truffle version of the Organic Cheddar from Godminster was launched in 2019, the first time they have added anything to their cheese. Their truffle cheddar is aged for 12 months and is then wrapped in black wax - we cut pieces off a large 1kg wheel.
It is a true gourmet product made with the revered European Black Truffles, authentically hunted using a truffle hunter and hound.
Godminster is a family farm started in 1993 by Richard Hollingbery who wanted to start up an Organic, Environmentally friendly farm on the 1300 acres. It was certified Organic by the Soil Association in 1999. Records show there has been a dairy farm there for the last 100 years.
They have a herd of 320 organic dairy cows, selling their milk locally and using the rest for cheese production. They also have orchards filled with a variety of delicious fruits and herbs. They sell a Vintage Cheddar; Smoked Cheddar; and this Truffle Cheddar.
