We're supporting the Neal's Yard Dairy and Jamie Oliver Save British Cheesemakers Campaign.
Britain’s cheesemaking traditions are at risk and need our support.
Farmers and producers face the prospect of throwing away large amounts of milk and cheese because of the huge drop in demand for their products. Soft and blue cheesemakers in particular are vulnerable because their cheeses can’t be matured and stored for long periods of time. Over the last 40 years the production of British farmhouse cheese has undergone a massive revival. If it is to survive, then it’s really important to support the makers of these often unique cheeses.
We've created a smaller version of the newest Neal's Yard Dairy Save British Cheese Selection - you will receive c600g of cheese produced by some of Britain's greatest small cheesemakers right now plus a box of the mini sized Peter's Yard Sourdough crispbreads.
If you wish to give this as a gift choose one of our gift boxes to put it in. You can also add any other item in such as beer, wine, chutney, salami - take a look at some ideas below.
Sparkenhoe Blue - UnPasteurised, Cow's Milk, Traditional Rennet - 200g
The Clarke family who produce famous mature Red Leicester, Sparkenhoe, now also produce this blue - an idea from their son Will as a way to use more of the milk their cows were producing. He decided to produce a rinded blue in the style of a stilton hand-ladled, using UnPasteurised milk. This is a milder flavoured blue, with a delicious finish.
Westcombe Cheddar - UnPasteurised, Cow's Milk, Traditional Rennet - 200g
A classic Somerset cheddar, aged for one year. It is tangy, mature and full of flavour. Westcombe has been produced using traditional methods for over 100 years by many generations of the Culver family.
Little Rollright - Pasteurised, Cow's Milk, Traditional Rennet - c250g
A reblochon-style super soft washed-rind cheese from Gloucestershire. Wrapped in spruce to give it a slightly piney flavour. Mellow but rich. Multi Award-winning including Best Soft Cheese at the Great British Cheese Awards.
