





As well as stocking the Organic Vintage Cheddar from Somerset based Godminster, we also stock their oak-smoked version. The same cheddar is aged for 12 months then is cold-smoked for up to 10 hours over sustainably-sourced oak chippings. It has a rich depth of flavour with a smooth texture, it is delightfully smoked and you can see this in the lovely colour on the outside of the cheese but the smokiness isn't overpowering.
For those who ask us for Applewood Smoked this is a great, even tastier alternative.
Godminster is a family farm started in 1993 by Richard Hollingbery who wanted to start up an Organic, Environmentally friendly farm on the 1300 acres. It was certified Organic by the Soil Association in 1999. Records show there has been a dairy farm there for the last 100 years.
They have a herd of 320 organic dairy cows, selling their milk locally and using the rest for cheese production. They also have orchards filled with a variety of delicious fruits and herbs. They sell a Vintage Cheddar; Smoked Cheddar; and Truffle Cheddar.
