A mature vintage cheddar made to a traditional 90-year-old recipe and matured for up to 12 months. A classic Somerset farmhouse cheddar with a creamy, smooth richness and a lovely texture. Available as pieces cut from a burgundy waxed wheel. This is probably our easiest eating cheddar so great for kids but does still have lovely depth of flavour to it.
Godminster is a family farm started in 1993 by Richard Hollingbery who wanted to start up an Organic, Environmentally friendly farm on the 1300 acres. It was certified Organic by the Soil Association in 1999. Records show there has been a dairy farm there for the last 100 years.
They have a herd of 320 organic dairy cows, selling their milk locally and using the rest for cheese production. They also have orchards filled with a variety of delicious fruits and herbs. They sell a Vintage Cheddar; Smoked Cheddar; and Truffle Cheddar.
